Shower Curtain Upgrade- Use a Curtain Panel Instead

Sharing two bathrooms with a curtain panel instead of a shower curtain and the best way to attach a shower liner. Often a shower curtain looks too small, not tall enough. Using a curtain panel instead of a shower curtain you get a lot more options in style and size. A glass door is always an option too, and we have glass doors on a couple of our showers. Our girls have a Jack and Jill Bathroom, or Jill and Jill Bathroom, and with two people being able to use a bathroom a frosted glass door would be another option, but I wanted to walk by and see their gorgeous shower room when it is not being used. Sharing what we did below.

Girls Bathroom Shower Curtain-

I am going to do a full tour of their bathroom, here is a peek at their shower room with a clawfoot tub and separate shower. We love it. See why I didn’t want a glass door in the way?
First we hung this curtain rod on the ceiling for height and it was the only place for it because of the shower doorway.

For the liner I attached drapery pins to each rod pocket tab, then hooked on the extra long shower liner. The shower liner is wider than the curtain, so I doubled the liner on the hooks on one side. If I had a wider shower I would do two curtain panels, and stack on one side, you could sew or pin together. Tip- pinch the drapery pin closed so the liner doesn’t slip out.

See how short this shower curtain is in Finn’s bathroom? And I would prefer closer to the ceiling too. It was really hard to find a long black curtain panel already made that touched the floor.

Shower Curtain After-

Here is the after! I attached a curtain rod to the ceiling and hung a wide curtain panel. Love that there are no rings and no flimsy shower rod that falls down! I actually did two curtain panels, that I already had a sewed them together. Thankfully the height worked great since the rod does come down a few inches. I will show you how I attached the shower liner.

I really like Twopages for custom curtains, you can select your width, height, if it has lining, the header style and more. (I did – Back Tab Header, Blackout lining, 93″ H and a total of 140″ wide). Ordering a custom panel makes it easy to use one wide curtain panel as a shower curtain, because you can decide your width and height based on your shower.
I pushed a drapery pin into the curtain liner. I just used a liner I had, and can easily remove the washable cloth shower curtain liner when it needs to be washed. (Shower liners in a lot of different sizes HERE).
I can just tuck the new shower curtain into the tub when I wash the floors. I could do a half inch shorter, but love the full look and I already had the curtains, win!
