After a closed alpha which required those interested to purchase the founder’s edition to play, Smite 2 has now officially become truly free to play.
Developer Hi-Rez Studios announced the news of the game going free to play at the end of the closed alpha test, as the game is now entering open beta.
This latest update also brings about a brand new character to the game in the form of Alladin. Four new characters for the game that have been available in its predecessor’s roster have also been released – they include: Geb, Mulan, Agni, and Ullr.
New additions to Smite 2 with this update also include a newly revamped Joust game mode as well as its accompanying new Arthurian-themed map. Updates to the Conquest map and an alpha to their Assault game mode are also included.
Finally the game introduces Aspects, a new mechanic designed to bring new ways to play existing characters. As of this release, they are optional.
Smite 2 is available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store).
