Introduction:
The book Rowan of Rin was about a boy named Rowan and a bunch of people going on an adventure from their village (Rin) to the mountain. There are these animals called the bukshah and they can only drink a certain kind of water that flows from the mountain, but the water stopped flowing and the people of the village are worried. The people of the village got together in the town square and decided on who to send up. There was this ugly, old woman named Sheba and she gave Rowan a piece of parchment and unfolded it.
It was a map, but it wasn't any ordinary map. There were 6 white spaces on the map and as the 7 chosen ones went on their journey, a space would fill up. Rowan was the only one to make it up the mountain and defeat the dragon. Everyone else turned back or tried to give up. Rowan helped the dragon and the dragon flew away. The people of the village and the bukshah were getting the water and Rowan made it down safely.

Plot Elements:
Exposition: The exposition of the story is Rowan and a bunch of villagers going up the mountain to make the water flow down from the top of the mountain down into the village. Also the meeting in the middle of the village and getting the map from Sheba. They had to send 6 people up the mountain and they were Bronden, Strong Jonn, Marlie, Val, Ellis, and Allun. Then Rowan brought the map and showed everyone it. They all couldn't see anything on it and they didn't trust Rowan. Then the images on the map appeared again and Rowan showed everyone. They all saw it and that party of 6 became a party of 7.
Rising Action: The rising action would be that the party faced many dangers up the mountain. They faced spiders which caused Ellis to go back. They faced the swamp which caused Bronden and Val to go back. They faced a dark, watery cave which caused Allun to go back, but they told him to wait. They came across a small tunnel, which caused Marlie to go back. They finally emerged from the cave and Strong Jonn's muscles were to big to fit through the tunnel, but he made it and he was about to die in the cold.
Climax: The climax would have to be Rowan carrying Jonn on his back and facing the dragon. Rowan didn't want to leave Jonn behind and took him with him. Then Rowan put Jonn down to the ground and helped the dragon get a bone loose from his teeth. Rowan succeeded and the dragon was guarding Jonn and Rowan wasn't going to leave him behind to die. Rowan somehow got Jonn and the dragon left the mountain.
Falling Action: The falling action would have to be Rowan taking Jonn back to the village and Jonn was saved, but nearly killed. Rowan took the water stream down to the village and the people greeting him. Then they saw Rowan and Jonn struggling. They helped them up and cared for them until they got better.
Resolution: The resolution is that the stream is flowing and the bukshah along with the villagers have fresh, clean water. Rowan greeted the bukshah and they all thanked Rowan by nudging him with their muzzles. The village people thanked Rowan for saving the bukshah and for being the last one to stay on the mountain and not give up. They also thanked him for helping the dragon at the top. Jonn said that Rowan defeated the dragon all by himself.

Review:
I would rate this a 10 out of 10. I would recommend this book for kids around the age of 12-13.
Theme:
The theme of the book is to "Never Give Up," and "Believe in Yourself." I think that this is the theme because Rowan never gave up and proceeded to the dragon when everyone else turned back. This is also the theme because Rowan believed in himself when Jonn was down that he would save him and not let him die. Those were the themes that I thought the story was trying to get through.
