Alright, I can’t keep quiet about Sydney Sweeney any longer. She’s not only a great actress but wow, is she stunning. And not afraid to flaunt it, which makes her even more appealing. Chances are, you’ve probably seen her in something and may not have known it was her.
Originally from Spokane, Washington, Sydney started as a child actress over a decade ago, with small parts in the 2009 series “Heroes” and the John Carpenter film “The Ward” (2010).
The first thing I specifically remember her in was when she joined the 2nd season of the highly acclaimed Hulu series “The Handmaid’s Tale.” There she played Eden Spencer, the “child” bride of the supporting character, Nick Blaine, played by Max Minghella. She was uptight and fully committed to the zealot life set up in the series, a thorn in the side of Nick and the main character, June, played by Elisabeth Moss. Sweeney was significant in that role, having a very memorable character arc and some of the best parts of that specific season.
But, her role in “The Handmaid’s Tale” kept in her what basically Amish attire. So when I first saw an actual picture of her outside the show, my jaw dropped. I had to make sure it was the same person, because the way she looked in the show looked nothing like the model outside of it, which is a testament to her disappearing into her roles.
After her success there, she popped up in the much talked about HBO series “Sharp Objects,” another smaller role, but one into which she still disappeared. Shortly after, she had a small part in Quentin Tarantino’s “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood,” where she played a follower of Charles Manson.
The role that finally gave her the big push into the public eye was her most prominent supporting role in “Europhoria” as Cassie Howard. Not only did she finally get to impress her amazing looks, but she had no problem bearing all. Playing a high school girl who deals with slut-shaming, you get to know her character and why she is the way that she is.
Today, she dropped an announcement that she was partnering with Rihanna’s Savage X Fenty lingerie brand, and there was a collective, worldwide jaw drop, as she ended up trending on Twitter. So, you can be damn sure people know who she is now.
Look for her as the co-lead in a film titled “The Voyeurs” out later this year alongside Justice Smith as well as tentatively coming back for the second season of “Euphoria.”
