Dear Valued, Health Care Coalition, Pediatric Hospital, Social Science, Emergency Medical Services,  Emergency Management, Education, Childcare and Public Health Community,

The National Pediatric Disaster Coalition (NPDC) invites you and your community to connect to our multi-disciplinary coalition supporting disaster preparedness for children and their families. Whereas children comprise approximately one-quarter of the population in the United States, the mission of the NPDC is to advance community preparedness, mitigation, response, and recovery for infants, children, and their families in disasters.

Who is NPDC? The National Pediatric Disaster Coalition was established at the first National Pediatric Coalition Disaster Conference in November 2015 in Scottsdale, Arizona. The conference was attended by over 200 participants and was dedicated to sharing up-to-date presentations and interactive discussions related to current pediatric coalition practices and future planning. The 2015 NPDC Conference Report summarizes the lessons learned from subject matter experts across the United States.

What does NPDC do?

  • NPDC collaborates and promotes information sharing with nationally recognized pediatric emergency, emergency management, public health, and social science professionals and community organizations.
  • NPDC advocates for developing programs and activities that will address the needs of children and families in disasters.
  • NPDC curates open-access, no-cost resources developed by trusted sources and informed by real-world events, pediatric disaster research, and evolving best practices.
  • NPDC connects novice to expert through the NPDC listserv, and our social media information sharing collaborates with a broad network of local, regional, and national community and governmental providers, including physicians, nurses, mental health providers, EMS professionals, and emergency managers.

We look forward to being your partner in sharing just-in-time information focused on improving outcomes for children and their families in disaster.
