Dak Prescott deal puts QB carousel focus on Russell Wilson

After the Cowboys locked up Dak Prescott on a four-year, $160 million megadeal Monday night, all eyes are on Russell Wilson as trade speculation runs rampant.

Wilson has reportedly become frustrated with the Seahawks and, while he has not requested a trade, he has stated that the four teams he would like to join are the Bears, Saints, Raiders and Cowboys. With the Cowboys committing to Prescott, it leaves three destinations for Wilson.

The Raiders have reportedly not shown any interest. The NFL Network and SB Nation reported that the team has not been involved with any discussions with the Seahawks.

Which theoretically leaves the Saints and the Bears. New Orleans is currently in a major cap crunch, currently almost $50 million over the number, according to Over the Cap. The franchise, however, has been known for expertly maneuvering the cap, and will likely cut veterans such as Kwon Alexander to make more room.

The Bears are $6 million over the cap, but could cut veterans such as Akiem Hicks and Kyle Fuller to free up space.

Russell Wilson’s cap hit would be $32 million in 2021, so either teams still would have a ways to go. NFL Network also reported that the Seahawks aren’t close to a deal, and Wilson may need to open up his list if he wants to get dealt.

Still, with Prescott off the board, Wilson could be the superstar quarterback to make waves.
