Hilarious memes troll L&T Chairman for 90-hr work week remarks
After Narayana Murthy was brutally slammed for advocating 70-hour work per week, Larsen & Toubro (L&T) chairman SN Subrahmanyan received the wrath of netizens after he advocated for a 90-hour work week, including Sundays.
“How long can you stare at your wife? How long can the wives stare at their husbands? Come on, get to the office and start working,” he was seen arguing in a video.
“I regret I am not able to make you work on Sundays, to be honest. If I can make you work on Sundays, I will be more happy,” the Chairman said when asked why L&T was making its employees work on Saturdays.
He further questioned, “What do you do sitting at home?” and said that one has to work 90 hours a week. His remarks amidst rising heart attacks in youngsters and employees are now going viral on social media with netizens brutally slamming the Chairman.

Recently, a Kerala-origin employee of EY had died of heart attack due to excessive work load. Now actress Deepika Padukone who is also a mental health advocate, also joined the debate and slammed Subrahmanyan for his remarks.
“Shocking to see people in such senior positions make such statements. #MentalHealthMatters” the actress shared.
The remarks of Narayana Murthy and Subhramanyan come in sharp contrast to the present pursuit of work-life balance in Europe that has a maximum of 48-hour work week, including overtime.

“Because real people don’t sit staring at their spouses all weekend. Real people have children or old parents to take care of. Real people have to do household chores, take the car for servicing, visit a bank or buy groceries - which they cannot do during the week because your company mandates 9 hours of presence. Punch in - Punch out - and the day is gone with the wind!”
