What Are Case Erectors
Case erectors automatically fold flat cardboard blanks into 3D cases and seal the bottom. This eliminates the need for manual box set-up, improving efficiency and reducing labor costs. Packaim’s flexible case formers can integrate into packing lines or work alone. Our sturdy machines fit many production needs with accuracy and high speed.

How Case Erectors Work
First, the flat cardboard sheets are loaded into a magazine or hopper on the case erector. This stores a stack of flat cardboard that will be formed into cases.
Next, the flat cardboard pieces are picked up one-by-one by suction cups or mechanical fingers. These carry each sheet to the start of the case former line.
As the cardboard sheet moves through the machine, plastic or metal arms fold the sheet at specific creases and score lines. This forms the sheet into the shape of a box with four sides and a bottom.
Glue tabs or tape strips may be used to seal the bottom of the box so it stays in the folded-up box shape when exiting the machine.
Some case formers have additional stations that fold in the top flaps after the box is formed. This creates a box with flaps that can be taped shut after products are loaded in.
Sensors help align the cardboard perfectly so each box is uniformly assembled as it goes through the automated folding processes.
The finished boxes exit the case erecting machine in the correct shape and are ready for filling. Using a case erecting machine allows boxes to be formed rapidly and consistently for efficient packaging operations.
