UPDATE: Two Concord Officers Hit by Car
Police release names of cops struck by motorist on Loudon Road Wednesday night.
Two Concord Police Officers were injured Wednesday night when a distracted motorist struck them while they were working a road detail.
Around 10:50 p.m. Wednesday, Concord and state police responded to Loudon Road near East Side Drive for a report of two Concord officers who were down after being hit by a motor vehicle.
The two officers -- Sgt. Cori Casey and Officer Eric Crane -- were working a road detail for overnight water main work being conducted on Loudon Road, police said. A right lane closure was set up just east of East Side Drive.

Several officers were assigned to the detail and were standing in the closed lane.
William Soler, 35, of Concord, was driving east on Loudon Road in a 1997 Geo Metro when he swerved to the right into the closed lane, sideswiping a stationary Concord Police cruiser and hitting the two officers, according to police. A third officer working the detail was uninjured. Soler told police he accidentally spilled hot coffee on himself, causing him to panic and step on the accelerator.

One officer was thrown to the pavement, and the second officer went up onto the car's hood and into the windshield, causing the windshield to break, police said. Both officers were taken by ambulance to Concord Hospital, where they were treated and released.
There were no obvious signs of impairment, and Soler was not arrested at the scene, police said, although charges could still be filed following the completion of the investigation.
