AOF Alumni Return to High School, Demonstrate Skills

A student’s personal growth is a major focus of ’s Academy of Finance (AOF) program. Throughout their high school years, AOF students make presentations in the classroom and to outside groups that help them gain confidence and self-esteem, says AOF director Linda Farrell.

Recently, two AOF alumni currently attending Ramapo College returned to the high school to give a presentation on ethics in international business to AOF juniors.

Katherine Sabbagh and Zachary Shatz of the Fort Lee High School/AOF Class of 2010 are members of Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) at Ramapo College. SIFE is an international, nonprofit organization that works with leaders in business and higher education to mobilize university students to make a difference in their communities while developing the skills to become socially responsible business leaders.

Farrell said the AOF juniors were “very impressed,” and that “they learned about how to handle ethical issues that arise in business.”

“It was great for the alumni to show their expertise to the current AOF students,” Farrell said. “It demonstrated to the juniors some of the important skills the alumni learned while attending AOF at Fort Lee High School.”
