Diablo 4 Rogue class overview

The Diablo 4 Rogue class is a master of ranged or melee combat skills. These distinctly different playstyles can be implemented seamlessly to create a diverse range of builds. If you’re not sure what specific skills you want, or are apprehensive about committing to one playstyle, don’t worry, the Rogue adapts.

Mobility has always been a crucial aspect to the Rogue’s survival, dodging abilities and specific character movement skills such as Dash and Shadow Step offer instant teleporting and increased movement speed; your enemies will be left scratching their heads as you take your offense to the next level.

The Diablo 4 Rogue class wears light or medium armour, utilises a crossbow, and employs both melee and ranged skills alike. Lay traps to set up ambushes or cripple multiple enemies, imbue weapons with shadow energy causing devastating AoE damage, or take to the melee with sword and board, furiously slicing and dicing your way through hordes of demons.

Rogues have a handful of unique skills, such as Shadow Step and Fortified Shadows, that bolster survivability. Skills like Dash and Dark Shroud give Rogue characters a smooth, almost teleport-like movement that can be trained into a devastating combo. Other skills imbue attacks with shadow energy, causing devastating AoE damage that obliterates hordes of demons.

Rogues are not just restricted to skill-based playstyles, you can mix and match gear to modify the effectiveness of your strategy. Mobility is key, therefore including those Rogue-specific legendary items with dodge animations and specific skills like Dash ensure your character’s survivability. Likewise, if you are a fan of traps and AoE skills, by choosing the right ultimate skill and appropriate modifiers, you can enhance your strategy.

When you’re in a sticky situation with no way out, control may be your answer, so control-specific skills such as Chaos Grip are useful in crowd control. Of course, you can mix and match to suit your preferred style.

Ranged combat

The Diablo 4 Rogue class excels in ranged combat, utilising skills like Penetrating Shot and Barrage to take out enemies at a safe distance. However, there is untapped potential in some of the class’s melee skills, so if you want a Rogue that’s up-close and personal, you might just find your new favourite combo skill.

Diablo 4 Rogue Imbuement Guide

The Rogue class has a Shadow Imbuement tree; these skills imbue your attacks with shadow energy, devastating to your enemies and rewarding to you. AoE damage is inherently gratifying, and Shadow Imbuement is no exception. There are two types of Imbuement skills: those that imbue your attacks with shadow energy, and those that imbue your weapon with said energy. The latter is especially useful, as you can transfer the shadow energy to your weapon prior to imbuing it, effectively doubling the devastating AoE damage.

Here are the best Diablo 4 Rogue skills and all of their modifiers:

Rogues can use a wide array of traps to control the movements of enemy hordes. Each of these skills offers an AoE of different areas, so whether you want to cripple individual demons, halt larger hordes in their tracks, or create distance between you and the horde, there is a trap for you.

Poison Trap: Places a toxic trap that inflicts 78% weapon damage per second over five seconds to enemies who step on it.
