This is invalid. This component is for bugs and feature requests in the Wikipedia app, not for requests for new apps.

The bug itself is fine, just move it into a different component rather than closing it as invalid.

Then maybe you should change the descriptive element at

as at this stage it says
Wikipedia App: Mobile applications for Wikipedia / Wiktionary / Wikisource

which the request would validly fall within.

At this point in time, the WSEXPORT tool is available for all English Wikisource works, and from a browser one can generate an EPUB/MOBI/PDF version, so for normal browsers and for mobile browsers, so in that regard it is not limited to mobile.

For mobile, where many do read, and it is very hard to edit off scans, it makes sense to have a simple app that allows searching for and reading of works.

The wsexport tool also has the beginnings of support for OPDS, with which ebook software (such as FBReader) can read catalogues of books. (I'm not sure how much more work is required for full OPDS support in wsexport).

So, perhaps we needn't produce our own app, but just make things available in all the right ways — and have lots of information about how people can use others' apps to read our books?

This task should be declined, as it is mostly superseded by WS Export (except for if you plan to write and maintain your own third-party mobile application).
