Okay indeed it mostly works now, although it might have been different a few years ago. One case that's still problematic (i.e. doesn't seem to work) is when a user account is renamed, and the relevant user pages get moved. E.g. this change caused Category:Pages with ignored display titles to be added, but this isn't visible in my watchlist.

Maybe related to T270348?
We're consistently getting this error now on nlwiki, but not on all instances. See e.g. radon-220: 2 out of 6 are good (maybe cached?) and 4 give an error like:
Oct 30 2023
I created T350004.

I'm not sure if the current situation is an improvement. The diff from the description used to fail most of the time, now it seems to fail all of the time. Should I make a new task for this?

Also, I'm getting the error User "None" does not have required user right "patrol" again on Pywikibot 8.4.0.dev3.
Oct 6 2023
Now running 8.4.0 stable, and it's very confusing/frustrating:

To which MediaWiki version does this change belong? I'm asking because mw:Manual:Externallinks_table should be updated.

@Xqt: I switched to master and my daily and weekly scripts ran fine, so no further action necessary.

Obviously that wasn't obvious to me.
After running login.py with -family:wiktionary it works. I didn't realize I'd have to login on every site separately.

Tried on master and on stable, still getting ERROR: User "None" does not have required user right "patrol" (UserRightsError).

In fact, no query has finished in the last 8 hours.

Good that it will be fixed. Indeed the users are responsible for correct data, but the form says the date is optional. Surely the users are not responsible for an artefact of internal representation (i.e. the Unix epoch), invented from scratch (i.e. an empty input field).

Note that I was using the stable branch to hopefully prevent problems like this. I have reverted to 7.7.3 to be able to run patrol.py again.

Also works for me. Thanks.

I'm getting the same "No user is logged in" warning, but an explicit login doesn't help. Regular edits are saved as the correct username, but currently I cannot use patrol.py:

It launched now. Didn't have to log out or refresh auth.
I'm still getting error 400. (On a different machine than before, so it can't be browser cache.)

If the mark state information were to be stored as well on the client side, e.g. in a cookie, then the user experience wouldn't be dependent (or would be considerably less dependent) on stashes and job queues, am I right? Since there is no "mark as unread", you can just do a logical OR of the local and remote information.

That change came from Wikipedia talk:AutoWikiBrowser/Mono and Wine#Wikipedia talk:AutoWikiBrowser/Mono and Wine. Maybe WaitForExit() works nowadays? Can't find much about it on the web.

Good that the bug has been fixed, but have all the mistakes been fixed now? Or are the wiki communities expected to do that?

A note from someone who regularly fixes lint errors: I've found this linter behaviour useful to detect people using the letter O instead of the digit zero, as in "2OOpx". On nlwiki there have been no other true positives (with suffix "px"). I suggest to adapt this to only consider typos like ppx and characters that resemble digits as bogus. Such as Latin O or o, but perhaps also Cyrillic З and others.

Using AWB 6.2.1.0 on Wine 5.0.3 on Ubuntu 21.10 I also see added blank lines. See this diff. This had "Apply general fixes", "Unicodify whole page" and "Find and replace" enabled, but it also happens with these 3 disabled (and nothing enabled in the tabs "More..." and "Disambig".

Also happening on nl.wiki. It's even worse on category pages, where it appears just below mw-parser-output. I don't remember whether it appeared just above or just below catlinks, it used to be somewhere at the bottom, on the right side.

You may find some missing names using nl:Module:Lang, function name_from_code.

Note that currently not all available databases are accessible in Quarry, see T278715.
Apr 3 2021
I think I've found the code location of the problem: the regex at quarry/web/app.py#241 is too restrictive. There are also database names with numbers, so simply adding an underscore won't be enough.

Same symptom also reported as T278544.

I think it's happening again. Some queries have been the 'running' state for more than 12 hours.
When I modify one of my existing queries and click 'Submit', nothing happens. When after a few minutes I press F5, I see that the changes have not been saved. In the recent queries I can see activity of others. What could I be doing wrong?

Re-opened, it seems that a regression happened. Same symptom on some user pages: link 16 above looks fine to me, but not link 17.

I also tried an .ogg file (although muting an audio file before playing is a weird use case), same behaviour.
Tech/News/2021/05 suggests that this feature can currently be used. If so, how exactly can users of the 2010, 2017, and visual editors insert this character? I've tried various wikis (even test.wikipedia) and couldn't find it.

I think I've found a potential work-around via a comment in UpdateRepoHookHandler.php: "This only works if there's a user account with the same name on the repo." I've certainly seen article moves by new users that weren't reflected in Wikidata, but I'm not sure exactly what causes this to happen. Also I'm not sure if there is a reliable way to prevent a user account from being automatically created on Wikidata.

Thanks. While checking links to pages in this namespace, I noticed one redirect which was broken by this bug: Overleg kategorie:Nedersaksische humor. However, it isn't reported in Special:BrokenRedirects. Should it be?
Jul 10 2020
Thanks for fixing, Legoktm, it looks like everything is working as before. The input field takes a database name like "enwiki", so that text is deceiving.
Jun 12 2020
Why is this lowest priority? Is accessibility of content not important? Is the work of subtitle writers not valuable?

FWIW, looking at the edits made at the Village Pump and by the uploader on that day, it seems that there was nothing wrong with the upload at the time.

OK so now it works. I haven't set up BotPassword. Before making this ticket, I copied and pasted the password from the Windows clipboard in different ways, and verified that pasting worked by using Special:ChangePassword. In the command prompt window, I tried using Shift+Insert to paste, and Ctrl+V, and also with the mouse via the window menu. I hadn't thought of typing it; it is quite long. Just now I typed it in and it works. No idea why. The password has only ASCII characters.
I don't have a file by that name. Should I? It is optional according to the documentation.
I redacted some directory names for privacy reasons.

@Jc86035 The wikitext parser puts some information in the database when it sees that magic word. The DiscussionTools extension uses that information, so subpages and templates are not a problem.
Mar 31 2020
On nlwiki there is Help:Helpdesk, which is one of the most used discussion pages on the wiki. We could move it to the project namespace, as it is the only discussion page in the Help namespace.
