Nursery contributed plant descriptions

The species Nicotiana is named for Jean Nicot (1530-1600), who first introduced tobacco to France. This species arrived from its native Australia and found a niche in our gardens for it possesses a sweet fragrance, especially on warm summer evenings. Long tubular flowers attract night-flying pollinators such as moths. An unusual and rare flower!
This is a rare Australian tobacco that is definitely the most fragrant I’ve grown so far. Deliciously scented from several paces, it grows to 2’ tall-with smaller tubular flowers but many of them. Flowers are white. The leaves are less coarse as well. Mine lasted 3 Summers with neglect. Reseeds.
