We reported last night that rapper Lil Durk was granted bond in a bond hearing yesterday after originally being denied in May. This was over his involvement in a shooting outside of an Atlanta hearing where a judge said they have probably cause to charge him. Facing 5 felonies ranging from criminal intent to commit murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and another charge of associating with a criminal street gang to participate in a crime, he now gets to remain at home while awaiting trial.

He even had help from his pastor in Chicago who advocated for him to get bond saying, “I’ve known Derrick in a very tense environment in Chicago and I’ve never witnessed him lashing out. It’s always been smiles and it’s always been jokes. He’s always been a good character. There’s no way I would come from Chicago and speak on his behalf if I thought there would be any type of risk. And I definitely wouldn’t want to ruin my name by vouching for him.”

The word from the pastor must have helped because he’s home now with just an ankle monitor and a curfew. Footage of him running out of the door excited’s now out and circulating. We’ll continue reporting as the case progresses.
