Peter Dickins from Thatcham awaits sentence for ‘zombie’ knife offence
A MAN has been caught with an illegal ‘zombie’ knife.
Peter Dickins appeared in the dock at Reading Crown Court on Wednesday, January 23.
The 23-year-old, of The Haywards, Thatcham, also faces other charges.
Specifically, Dickins admitted possessing a Karambit, or ‘zombie’ style knife.
Next, he pleaded guilty to possessing a Samurai sword.
Both these offences were committed inside a property in The Haywards on Tuesday, January 21.
Finally, Dickins admitted sending a WhatsApp message to Matthew and Lorraine Hudson in West Berkshire on October 24 last year.
He was told the case was being adjourned for pre-sentence reports.
District judge Samuel Goozee stipulated these should be prepared on an ‘all options’ basis, including custody.
Dickins, who was legally represented by Sally Thomson, was meanwhile released on bail with conditions.
Last September the Government announced a change in the law banning so-called zombie knives and machetes.
Since then such items have been illegal to possess or sell as part of new measures aimed at halving knife crime within a decade.
