She uses Tarot cards, which are cards she received after she passed away. After the anniversary of the passing of her mother, 12 year old Akari encounters a Daemon. During the encounter Akari transforms into the sun tarot card. After another encounter with a Daemon in which Akari almost loses her life in, she meets three other girls who can also transform into tarot cards. She is invited to an academy for these 22 element tarot card wielders whose jobs are to fight daemon. Soon Akari finds she is special, she can hear the voices of daemons and wants to save them, while one of her teammates, Siera is bent on destroying them.
