He is listening out apprehensively to the feverish discussions of adults who are blaming him for recent transgressions. He knows they are looking for him and if they get hold of him, they will make him pay the ultimate price for his misdemeanors. Terrified of being discovered, the boy's mind is running riot. He seeks to escape into play, deploying the contents of his toy box and an active imagination - setting up plastic soldiers that bleed onto the pristine carpet, drawing on the furnishings with crayons, blitzing the old portrait on the wall with a launched football, desecrating the iconic artefacts around him, and generally trashing the office. He soon realizes it is only a matter of time before he is discovered and feebly tries to conceal the mess he's created. Once the adults catch him, they see through it all. Despite trying to claim his innocence, the boy is eventually resigned to take his punishment. Written by Dan Douglass See less
