It includes topic on the fundamental concepts of the Earth’s ecosystems; the various types of environmental problems, their causes, and sustainability; the concepts of human population and urbanization; food, soil, and pest management; water resources and water pollution; environmental hazards and human health; air pollution, climate disruption, and ozone depletion; solid and hazardous waste; and extinction. In addition, the course entails with various readings about current research studies on the impact of human activities on the environment, and assessment of current environmental protection programs and hazard mitigation efforts done by the local and the national government as well as the non-government organizations. It equips the students with a broader perspective on their gender roles as they discern stereotypes and discriminations as dictated by society. Purposive Communication | | Purposive Communication is about writing, speaking and presenting to different audiences and for various purposes. (CMO 20 s. 2013). It is a three- unit course that develops students’ communicative competence and enhances their cultural and intercultural awareness through multimodal tasks that provide them opportunities for communicating effectively and appropriately to a multicultural audience in a local or global context. It equips students with tools for critical evaluation of a variety of texts and focuses on the power of language and the impact of images to emphasize the importance of conveying messages responsibly. The historical survey, which is grounded on an understanding of basic science concepts, will examine how these developments have affected the course of human society: politically, economically, and socially (including culturally). The second part of the course focuses on current issues arising from the application of science and technology, how such applications relate to ethical and political decisions in both the public and private sector, and their effects (positive and negative) on society and life in general.
