It’s Nagar Kirtan all the Way at the 65th National Film Awards
RBN Web Desk: Nagar Kirtan, the same-sex love story directed by Kaushik Ganguly, has bagged four major honours at the 65th National Film Awards announced in New Delhi today.
While Riddhi Sen bagged the best actor (male) award for his performance, Nagar Kirtan also fetched the best costume design for Gobindo Mondol and the best makeup for Ram Rajak.
That aside, the film itself won the special jury award.
Kaushik had earlier told the media that Nagar Kirtan is his best film so far. His film Bishorjon, which had Jaya Ahsan and Abir Chatterjee in the lead, had a won a national award in 2017.
Nagar Kirtan had courted controversy last year with the censor board reportedly objecting to some parts of the film.
Ritwick Chakraborty and Manabi Bandopadhyay play other major roles in the film.
