Ok. I searched through here and couldn’t find anything on this topic.
I’m wondering what the difference between the Dexron transmission fluid and the ATF T-IV fluid is.
The reason is this;
The 2002 4-Runner is listed as needing the Dexron fluid while the 2003 Tacoma is listed as needing the T-IV fluid. They have the EXACT same A340F transmissions.
So my question is, why?
Does anyone know why this is?
The guys at Stevinson couldn’t tell me why this was the case. But Reese said there shouldn’t be any reason that I can’t run the T-IV fluid in the older ‘02 Runner trans.
Is this true?
Does it really matter?
My transmission blew up and I’m replacing it with a used one out of an ‘02 4-Runner and the Dexron is TWICE the cost of the ATF T-IV.
Thanks.
