Visa Options for U.S. Citizens:

Thanks to the mutual visa agreement between Russia and the USA, U.S. citizens can obtain a multiple-entry visa valid for 3 years, regardless of visa type (tourist, private, business, or humanitarian), allowing stays of up to 6 months per entry. This does not apply to student or work visas, which depend on the length of the study or work program. Additionally, this multiple-entry visa allows travel with a purpose different from the one originally stated in the visa application. However, each trip’s purpose and host information must be listed on the migration card at border control.

Visa Options for Non-U.S. Citizens

Citizens of other countries requiring a physical visa to enter Russia can apply for a single-entry visa valid for up to 30 days while in the U.S. To apply in the U.S. instead of in your home country, you’ll need a valid U.S. residency permit (Green Card) and proof of travel insurance for the entire visa period, covering you in Russia. There is no minimum coverage requirement, so affordable options are available.
Important Notes
  • Airline and hotel bookings are not required to obtain a Russian visa. The Russian consular offices recommend waiting until you have received your passport with the visa before finalizing travel plans.
  • The visa start date must be no later than 6 months from the application date.

Processing and Fees:

Our standard processing fee for obtaining any type of Russian visa is $700.00, covering consular and shipping fees, with a processing time of up to 1 month. The issued passport will be shipped directly from the Russian consulate via USPS Priority Mail (2-3 days within the U.S.) to your address, with signature confirmation required. Other carriers (FedEx, UPS, etc.) are not permitted, and the shipping time is not included in the visa processing time.

Expedited Processing Options:

We offer faster processing for those needing quicker service:
  • 3-week processing: $1,000.00
  • 2-week processing: $1,300.00
  • Emergency processing (travel within 10 days): A single-entry visa valid for 30 days, processed within 2-3 business days, at $1,300.00.
For expedited or urgent processing, the issued passport will be shipped directly via USPS Priority Mail Express (1-2 days within the U.S.), with signature confirmation required. Shipping time is not included in the processing time.

Documents Required for Obtaining a Russian Visa in the USA

STEP 1: Mailing or Bringing Initial Documents
Please mail or bring the following documents to any of our offices to start your Russian visa application process:

  • Valid U.S. Passport: Your passport should have at least 2 blank visa pages and an expiration date no sooner than 6 months after the visa’s end date. We recommend double-checking the expiration date and ensuring the passport is signed (for a child’s passport, a parent must sign).
  • Service Fee Payment: We accept all types of checks and money orders. Please make checks payable to Russian Agency. You may also pay via Zelle using our email address, [email protected] (registered as Russian Agency INC).

STEP 2: Additional Documents
Please email or bring the following documents to any of our offices:

  • Visa Invitation: If you need a visa type other than a tourist visa, please provide an invitation. We offer free tourist visa invitations and can arrange business visa invitations for an additional $100.00. If you have your own invitation, simply email us a high-quality scan. For guest visas from Russian citizens issued within the U.S., the invitation must be notarized by a U.S. notary, and the original must be submitted with your U.S. passport. Let us know the type of visa you need, and we’ll be happy to provide the correct invitation form, instructions, and review it for accuracy to avoid any processing delays.
  • Two Printed Visa Photos: Photos should be 35 x 45 mm or 2 x 2 inches, taken within the last 6 months. You may email a digital photo instead—just take a chest-level photo on your phone at home against any background and send it to us without editing or cropping. We will adjust and print it according to consulate standards. If applying in person, we can take the photo for you at no extra cost.
  • Application ID and Password for Online Application: If you need assistance completing the online visa application, we’re happy to help in person at our office or by phone.
  • Signed Form for USPS Passport Mailing: Please complete and sign this form to authorize mailing from the Russian consulate to your address.
  • Additional Requirements for Minors (Under 18): If you are applying for a visa for a child, please include a copy of the child’s birth certificate, copies of both parents’ valid passports, and a copy of their marriage certificate (if married). If one parent is a Russian citizen, we will need proof of their U.S. residency status (Green Card or U.S. passport), along with a copy of their internal Russian passport (main page and registration page), if available. For parents from other countries, a copy of their national passport and U.S. residency status document is required. If the parent’s name differs from the name on the child’s birth certificate, a document showing the name change is needed.
  • Private Visa for Invited Guests: If applying for a private visa based on an invitation from a Russian citizen, please email us a copy of the inviter’s internal Russian passport (main page and registration page) and their Russian travel passport (main page).
  • Proof of Non-Russian Citizenship for Former USSR Nationals: If the applicant was born in any former USSR country before February 6, 1992, proof of non-Russian citizenship is required. This could be a passport from another former USSR country, documents showing emigration for permanent residence before February 6th 1992, or a certificate of renunciation of Russian citizenship. If this applies to you, we’re here to help ensure your documents meet the requirements.
  • HIV Test for Student or Work Visas: For student and work visas, a negative HIV test result (blood test) obtained within the last 3 months from any U.S. laboratory is required.
