Baked Honey Garlic Chicken Wings
Ingredients
- 3 lbs chicken wings
- ¾ cup honey
- ½ cup soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 3 tablespoons ketchup
Instructions
- Remove wing tips and discard. Cut wings apart at joint. Put in a shallow 9X13 inch casserole dish.
- In a bowl, combine honey, soy sauce, garlic powder and ketchup.
- Pour marinade over the chicken pieces and let marinate for at least an hour.
- Preheat oven at 375°F.Place casserole dish in the oven and bake the chicken along with the marinade at for 1 hour, turning once.
- Serve with the sauce. Alternatively, for drier wings, remove chicken from the casserole dish and place chicken wings on a rack set in a baking pan. Return to the oven and bake for 5 minutes, turn and bake the other side for 5 minutes.
- Serve and enjoy!

Great recipe! As I didn’t have garlic powder, I used fresh garlic instead, chopped finely. I added a tablespoon of sesame oil.

Im about to make them soon so I am curious if I have to put anything over top as a shield when I bake it in the casserole dish ? Does it over flow ?
No, you don’t need to cover the casserole when you bake the wings with the marinade. Just make sure you use a deep casserole dish and place the casserole dish on a baking sheet before you place them in the oven.
Did I interpret it correctly inntour reply that that the leftover marinade should be baked in the oven too? I’m a casserole dish I suppose, while the wings are cooking?

I have not tried making this in a slow cooker. It should be okay, just adjust the cooking time.
I have these in The oven now…. You don’t really use the sauce for dipping that you have taken the raw chicken out of do you?? The sauce seemed real watery, but it sure smells good! I’m anxious to taste them!
Hi Marla, No, do not use the marinade if you did not bake it with the chicken wings. The marinade should have been included and baked along with the chicken wings. I hope that helps!
Could you be more specific when you talk about baking them for a second time? Do you bake them for another hour? Do you move them to another pan without the marinade?
Hi April, The second time you bake it, you only bake it for 5 minutes on each side. You never bake it with marinade because the wings will be on a rack (see picture). I hope that helps!

I recently tried this recipe again, but decided to bake the drumsticks at 400 degrees Fahrenheit. I used twelve drumsticks, instead of eight, and added some onions (cut into large pieces). The dish was delicious, and the onions became very caramelized!
