In contemporary vehicular communication networks, shared communication channels pose significant security challenges. This paper analysis the advantages and the importance of implementing robust encryption algorithms to safeguard sensitive data exchanged between different Electronic Control Units (ECUs) of a vehicle, which communicate through Controller Area Networks (CAN). Additionally, the execution and integration of the functions that enable security at the level of the control circuits are detailed, using asymmetric algorithms with public key for encryption and decryption, such as the Rivest-Shamir-Adleman (RSA) algorithm, ensuring that any unauthorized access to data remains unable to be decrypted. By advocating for advancements in cryptographic solutions, particularly through specialized digital integrated circuits, the aim is to enhance the overall confidentiality of vehicular communication in protected cryptosystems. The FPGA-based implementation of RSA encryption updates, test and analyze the IP cores that are crucial for maintaining data transfer through CAN networks, proposing efficient and effective cryptographic approach in the field of automotive cybersecurity.
