TRIAL ELECTRONICS containing the “Special Section on New Trends in Electrical Machines Technology—Part I.” The papers published in this Special Section are focused on latest advances in the modern technologies adopted in the field of electrical machines and drives. In a world where difficult challenges have to be overcome by designers to transform and to control the electromechanical conversion in an efficient way, the knowledge of the latest available technological solutions is surely a key point to push forward the research frontier. From this point of view, the Guest Editors hope that the papers included in this Special Section will increase the interest of the scientific community in these topics and will suggest new ideas for many applications such as transportation, renewable energy sources, household appliances, and industrial applications. Due to the high number of significant research works accepted for publication (37 papers), this “Special Section on New Trends in Electrical Machines Technology” has been divided into two parts. For each part, some “hot” topics have been identified. The 19 papers published in this second part are grouped into three main topics, namely,• condition monitoring and fault detection (4 papers);• modeling and testing (10 papers);• control issues (5 papers).
