On-line laboratories for image and two-dimensional signal processing using 2D J-DSP

M Yasin, LKA Spanias - 2003 IEEE International Conference on …, 2003 - ieeexplore.ieee.org
Java Digital Signal Processing (J-DSP) is a Java-based object-oriented programming
environment that was developed at Arizona State University (ASU) for use in undergraduate-
and graduate-level engineering classes. J-DSP is written as a platform-independent Java
applet that resides on the Web and is thereby accessible by all students using a Web
browser. We describe an innovative software extension to J-DSP, called 2D J-DSP, to
accommodate on-line laboratories for two-dimensional digital signal processing. Two …

On-line laboratories for image and two-dimensional signal processing

M Yasin, LJ Karam, A Spanias - 33rd Annual Frontiers in …, 2003 - ieeexplore.ieee.org
This paper presents innovative on-line Java-based educational DSP software modules that
were developed to render possible on-line laboratories for two-dimensional digital signal
processing. The developed software modules provide on-line 2-D DSP capabilities,
including 2D signal generation, 2D FIR filter design & implementation, and 2D transforms.
On-line image processing capabilities are also provided, including image restoration and
enhancement. In order to illustrate 2D concepts graphically, contour (2D) and perspective …
