A case study description is presented that can be used as a reference in studying or
comparing the properties of software architectures. The case study is centred around a
railroad control system. Care has been taken to keep the problem simple, yet containing all
the issues a real-world, industrial-quality system has to face. Besides functional
requirements, the case study addresses real-time, fault-tolerant, and adaptive behaviour.
Abstract
A case study description is presented that can be used as a reference in studying or comparing the properties of software architectures. The case study is centred around a railroad control system. Care has been taken to keep the problem simple, yet containing all the issues a real-world, industrial-quality system has to face. Besides functional requirements, the case study addresses real-time, fault-tolerant, and adaptive behaviour.
