YU GU received his BS degree in civil and building engineering in 1999, MS and Ph. D degrees in solid mechanics in 2001 and 2006, respectively, from the Belarusian State University of Transport, Belarus. He is now a professor of the Beijing Advanced Innovation Center for Soft Matter Science and Engineering at the Beijing University of Chemical Technology, and also a professor of the Department of Chemistry at the Goethe-University Frankfurt. His research interests are focused on pattern recognition, the design and preparation of multi-functional advanced materials for biochemical sensors, computational intelligence self-adaptive systems, and the theory of solid mechanics.
