Jianwei Wei earned his Ph.D. degree from the Department of Oceanography, Dalhousie University, Canada, in 2013. He then moved to Boston to pursue postdoctoral training at the University of Massachusetts Boston, and continued as a research associate from 2015, and took a position as Research Assistant Professor in 2017. Starting from September 2019, he has been a Senior Remote Sensing Scientist contracting with GST to work at NOAA/NESDIS Center for Satellite Applications and Research (STAR) in College Park, MD, USA. His research experiences include ocean color instrumentation, the development of ocean color calibration and validation techniques, the development of ocean color algorithms for retrieval of water-column and bottom properties, ocean color classification and data quality assurance, primary production estimation, etc.
