Add a “cut” option to the vector editor
This isn’t cut an paste btw
Then you click on an object and click the “more” button there would be a “cut option”
When you click it it cuts out the objects shape inside all of the shapes below it like the “erase” tool
This would be emensly useful for making layer masks or just art in general

I see the point of this… semi support because you can also do it with bitmap. It does ruin the drawing sometimes though.

Do you mean the eraser in the bitmap editor, or the reshape tool?
Anyway, you could have a shape with the same background color as the background.

Can’t you just select the thing and then delete it?

The eraser tool (even in vector) is one workaround, although I'd agree that this workaround would take longer to do than your proposed suggestion.

so basically i got bamboozled because I just realized vector has the eraser tool now ok yea The eraser tool (even in vector) is one workaround, although I'd agree that this workaround would take longer to do than your proposed suggestion.
Though I think they mean selecting a part of something, and deleting it, not the whole thing. Can’t you just select the thing and then delete it?

But in vector, if you add something to a drawing, it’ll be its own thing. In the post, they had a square with another square inside it, and cut cuts the smaller square out; but you could do that anyway by selecting it and deleting it, so I’m not sure if that’s all it does or not

The area deleted seemed to be larger than the square itself though.

Support. I’ve seen a few vector editors do this, and I find this tool for a vector editor pretty useful for a lot of things. I agree that Scratch’s 3.0 editor needs something like this for converted bitmap vectors.

Support. Bitmap is not really a workaround, because even after you convert it back to vector, all your precious shapes and layers disappear, creating one huge shape and layer. The eraser tool isn’t very precise, so not a workaround either.

I agree. The bitmap converter is a bit broken due to some missing features I think and a program error with vector editing.

what if there are sprites behind the thing? Do you mean the eraser in the bitmap editor, or the reshape tool?

Oh, I don’t really see how useful that would be, but it seems like it could help in some situations, like if you made the square smaller than you meant to or the hole in a game needs to be bigger than the cover for some reason.
Semi-support, it seems useful in some situations, but not very many. I can’t see where you would really need this

And also most backgrounds aren’t a solid color, if it’s just a solid color than it really isn’t a backgroundwhat if there are sprites behind the thing? Do you mean the eraser in the bitmap editor, or the reshape tool?

It’s very difficult to make a cut out in any shape with the current editor, in fact you actually can’t for any shape more complicated than a square without some really really complex stuff Oh, I don’t really see how useful that would be, but it seems like it could help in some situations, like if you made the square smaller than you meant to or the hole in a game needs to be bigger than the cover for some reason.
Semi-support, it seems useful in some situations, but not very many. I can’t see where you would really need this
The current way to do it is to make 4 rectangles that surround the middle square, then put an outline on those squares, then put an outline on the middle
But this gets impossible with more complex shapes as you basically need to remake the shape with just squares and circles, for a shape like a star this is basically impossible to do
The area detected wouldn’t be larger, I just made a mock up with the method described above
