Luke Cunningham Wilson (born September 21, 1971) is an American actor who appears in Scream 2 (1997) as the fiction-within-fiction Billy Loomis. The events of the film occur in 1997, however, as nearly a year has passed since the original film (continuity error).

In the Scream universe, he portrayed a fictional version of "real-life" serial killer, Billy Loomis in the slasher film Stab (1997 film) directed by Robert Rodriguez (an in-universe parody of the original Scream film). Loomis was the original Ghostface serial killer, who inspired multiple psychopath copycats. According to characters in Scream 2 (1997) and beyond, the film Stab was successful and earned a cult fanbase.

He is mentioned by name in Scream (2022 film) by Tara Carpenter as the actor who portrayed Billy. He can also be seen through a visual cameo photograph.

Biography[]

He is the younger brother of Owen Wilson and Andrew Wilson. Wilson is well known for his roles in the films Idiocracy and Vacancy.

Scream 2[]

He portrays serial killer mastermind, Billy Loomis, in the Robert Rodriguez directed Stab (1997 film-within-a-film), the film based on the true events of the Woodsboro Murders.

This is a killing spree that claimed the lives of six people between one death in 1995 and five others in 1996 (The events of the 1996 film, Scream).

Luke Wilson's Billy re-enacts a scene from the previous film with actress Tori Spelling, who plays Sidney. In the original Scream, Sidney complains that she would probably be played by Tori Spelling if a movie was made about her life.

Luke Wilson as Billy Loomis

Luke, seen in Stab, portraying Billy.

In a parodic fashion, Wilson is a caricature of Billy, with longer curtains, darker hair and a more parodic darkness to his persona.

The dialogue is also a mockery of generic slasher films in Hollywood. Wilson's Billy says, "that's how the cookie crumbles", when Billy actually says, "that's just the way it goes" in the original film.
