MILL CREEK, Wash. — A local high school robotics team placed second in a world invitational over the weekend.
According to Everett Public Schools, Mill Creek's Jackson High School's squad claimed silver at the eighth annual Chezy Champs competition in San Jose, Calif, against 38 teams from around the world.
Team 2910, Jackson High's group, overcame early losses to stay alive in double-elimination brackets and finish second.
“Although we fell just short of winning the competition, we are very proud to be bringing home a finalists award from one of the most competitive off-season robotics events in the world," Team 2910 media officer Alison Kim said in the school district's press release.
"I am exceptionally proud of the preparation of these students and how they competed with enthusiasm and gracious professionalism," coach Kyle Pihl said. "They are truly awesome kids to work with and I'm excited for what I know they can accomplish in the upcoming 2022-2023 robotics season."
