We do not recommend using wall mates type hollow wall anchors for fitting any of our floating shelf brackets to gyprock sheet. A correctly fitted floating shelf bracket will have no visible movement between the brackets base piece and the wall surface when load is applied to the bracket rod (s)

1) Select a longer / larger gauge screw and an equivalent wall plug for extra weight capacity when fitting brackets to masonry walls.
2) Ensure you use the recommended high quality sharp drill bit to suit the wall plug and hole size.
3) Ensure you drill the hole horizontally and deep enough, do not force the drill or enlarge the hole.
4) Take extra care when drilling high walls, ceilings and ceramic tiles.(use correct type of drill bit for ceramic tiles), check the surface that the ceramic tiles are affixed onto, EG. render, villaboard or gyprock drywall and use fixings commensurate with the wall type.
5) Ensure wall plugs are well fitted, the hole is drilled deep enough and wall plugs are a tight fit in the drilled hole.
6) Floating shelves will give the best weight capacity when the bracket (s) are fitted to good condition solid brick/cement type walls, or into the studs in a cavity wall if the studs coincide with bracket position and your ideal shelf location on the wall. Ensure the installer has previous experience fitting floating shelves / floating shelf brackets.
7) We recommend our hollow wall anchors here if fitting brackets only into drywall sheeting such as gyprock. Please note weight the capacity of the bracket or shelf will then be dependent on the strength of the drywall sheeting. See fitting hollow wall anchors YouTube video below.
8) Weight capacity of all shelf brackets will always be dependent on their fixing to the wall, type of wall fixings used and the general condition of the wall that the shelf brackets are being fitted to.
