Google AdSense is a program that is run by Google. It lets publishers that are part of Google Display Network show Internet advertisements that are targeted to the site content and the audience. The advertisements can have words, images, videos, or other media. The advertisements are hosted, sorted, and maintained by Google. Google then actually splits that revenue with web owners who display these ads.[1]

Recently Google allows Android Developers to show AdSense ad in apications besides AdMob.[2]
