Sexual Orientation, Affectional Orienation
[change source]I was Wondering whether or not the difference between Sexual and Affectional Orientation should be pointed out.
For example, we might say that someone may be heterosexual, but still has feelings of affections towards members of the same sex,
or any other possible situations.
furthermore i added a small part on asexuality, and am wondering whether or not we should include other, lesser known, sexualities.
thanks for your opinions.
also, can i use my normal English wikipedia account for the Simple English Wikipedia? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.216.236.7 (talk • contribs)
First of all, please sign posts on talk pages (with -~~~~); that makes life easier for us all. Second, as pointed out in the Kinsey reports; between 30-50% of men have bisexual tendencies, about 10% are openly gay. What sexualities are you talking about?- I do not think paraphilia, zoopilia, hebephilila,... are sexual orientations; Most of these are dictated by social norms, or seen as abnormal ("Against nature"). As to your username, pick anything that is free. If it is not considered offensive (or otherwise inappropriate) you will be able to keep it. Lastly, please do not use html markup; read about Wiki markup. --Eptalon 21:55, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
I have now made a username:
The Kinsey reports are, in my opinion, inaccurate, I would say that the Kinsey scale is too limiting and almost imposes sexualities on people.
Examples I was thinking of were mainly pansexual, autosexual (although that I would probably describe in the same section as the paraphilias), and perhaps pomosexuality, although (again), it is controversial as to whether or not it can be described as an actual Sexuality as such, and probably wouldn't add much to the entire context of the page.
I did, however, think Asexuality was a necessity.
Paraphilias aren't sexual orientations as such, and as stated simply in the article, it is possible to have a sexual fetish, and still describe oneself as heterosexual (for example).
On the topic of Affectional Orientations, perhaps it would be going "too" into the whole subject, but i think it's important to seperate the idea of sexual attraction and love. Making it clear that it is possible to have sexual feelings towards someone, but not love them and vica versa.
Not only that, but the other wikipedia pages have the subjects i am suggesting (and others), and it isn't particularly fair to hinder those who don't have english as a first language(etc.).
So I actually can't decide whether or not it will add enough information to the subject, perhaps anything that isn't of the 3 majority sexualities should be put in the other page, where the paraphilias are already listed?
Again, thank you for any opinions or suggestions

Page needs a major overhaul...
[change source]Sorry to say, so, but this is Simple English Wikipedia. This page needs a major overhaul: - Intro/Lede: Small easy to unserstand intro; point out normal case "being attracted to the oposite sex/gender". Some are interested in same-sex-relationships (-> homosexuals), some are interested in both (-> bisexuals). - Perhaps illustrate with images: man/woman kissing, two men kissing, two women kissing. - Cut the section "difference form sexual orientation/behaviour". I think in its current form it is unsuitable, and only adds complex Just pointing out things. I think a proper, understandable article about half the size of the current article would do the job. --Eptalon (talk) 21:58, 9 December 2020 (UTC)
- Eptalon I will try and do some of it when I can. If you are free to help, that would be great. Sxologist (talk) 01:32, 10 December 2020 (UTC)
