LAPEA is dedicated to the development of processes to obtain products with high nutritional, therapeutic or technological value, through clean techniques that do not represent risks to consumers and environment. These products can be obtained from vegetal or animal raw materials, but also from wastes from food industries that could have their value significantly increased. Solvents at high pressures often have physical and chemical properties that make them feasible for manufacturing products for human consumption. Our team seeks for methods to make the use of such solvents viable, instead of toxic and pollutant substances. In this context, all solvents must be food grade, such as water, carbon dioxide and ethanol.
