More model informationThe dark colored rock is basalt. Included in the basalt are green xenoliths – pieces of the ultramafic mantle. If you zoom in and look at the xenoliths, you can see three minerals. The olive green mineral is olivine – olivine makes up most of the xenoliths. The relatively rare brighter (emerald) green mineral is chrome diopside, and the darker sort of greyish mineral is orthopyroxene.
