Description
Shenandoah National Park in Virginia is beautiful in all seasons. In spring, wildflowers edge the trails and birds call at sunrise; summer brings green trees and warmth and roadside blossoms; later, vibrant leaf colors of fall give way to the silent white of winter’s snow. Skyline Drive winds through the park along the crest of the Blue Ridge Mountains; an afternoon’s drive can reveal wide valley views, deer beside the road, banks of mountain laurel, a tunnel of tall oak trees. In Shenandoah, a trail can lead hikers up a mountain or down a canyon, past waterfalls and wildlife and ancient rocks. A trail may pass old walls and home sites of families who lived here not long ago.
