5. Jeremy Kyle visits Tent City 

One of the most controversial moments Queen's Gardens has ever witnessed came in November 2016, when Jeremy Kyle arrived at the Tent City protests. The TV presenter was confronted with a barrage of abuse in the Rose Bowl outside the BBC Building while filming for a new series.

4. Freedom Festival 2016 

Hull's annual festival returned in 2016, with Queen's Gardens hosting some of the city's biggest events. The New York Brass Band and the People's Tower built completely from cardboard were some of the highlights. 



  

3. Spencer Tunick- Sea of Hull

Nudity on the streets of Hull? American nudist photographer Spencer Tunick came to Hull to create the largest human art installations ever seen in the city. The Rose Bowl in the Queen's Gardens was one of the many locations used, as thousands striped bear and painted themselves blue to represent Hull's unique relationship with the sea. 

2. Place de Anges 

July saw the spectacular ariel Place de Anges show come to the city as a warm-up event for Hull 2017 City of Culture. 'Angels' flew own from the Hull College building and across Queen's Gardens, dropping millions of feathers onto the 15,000 people below. 

1. Hull FC 2016 Challenge Cup Homecoming

23,000 Hull FC fans packed into Queen's Gardens to welcome home the Black & Whites after their first ever Challenge Cup victory at Wembley Stadium back in August. Highlights of the game and the club's route to the final were played on a large screen before the players ended their open-top bus parade on Wilberforce Road, and took the the stage to hold the trophy aloft for the first time in 11 years.
