Simply Red

Here is my take on Laura's Sketch 17 at 2sketches4you . These sketches are always so much fun. I used my hearts block Cuttlebug embossing folder on a piece of red cardstock. I made the panel that extends off the card with my treading water punch . I stamped it with a Studio G stamp from Michael's dollar bin. Some Offray trim, ribbon , and a rhinestone heart (Darice), also from the Michael's dollar bin, add the finishing touches. Very simple, but I like it. (I've edited the photo due to some of the comments I received. I'm having problems with the camera and always have problems with the lighting in here. It was late last night when I posted and I didn't realize until I got some of the comments that my red card looked orange! It still seems to have an orange cast, but hopefully this picture is better.)

Trying new things

I tried some new things this week on my 2sketches4you card. This is Kazan's sketch 17 Here is my card: I used my new cuttlebug embossing folder in my new Big Shot. I am so in love with this machine and these folders. And I have more embossing folders on the way to me! So you'll be seeing more cards with embossing from me in the future. The other new technique is the dahlia flower. It was new to me because I have never tried it. I wasn't happy with the whole flower once I was done (your folding needs to be pretty precise) so I made a bud out of three of the sections. You can see a tutorial for this technique HERE . A close up of the flower. Paper: Daisy Bucket Designs Stamp: Inkadinkado Tools: Cuttlebug D'vine swirls embossing folder , scallop punch

Challenges

Merry Christmas! I'm sneaking in this post before all the festivities start. I made one card this week that covered two challenges. At Our Creative Corner , the challenge was to make a card for a lovey/dovey or love of the lifetime. I'm glad to get the jump on Valentine's day. The Christmas crafts were getting old. I also used the sketch at 2sketches4you . Here's the sketch Here is my card I made it with papers and stickers from Basic Grey's sugared collection. It was quick and easy. The rubs on are also some older Basic Grey and one that I can't remember who it is by. Enjoy your day!

Weekly sketches

I have been busy working on Christmas cards again. I've been using my favorite sketch sites. Here is this week's sketch from 2sketches4you . Here's my take on it. It is a money holder. I'm giving my Dad money for Christmas, so it's for his gift. Next is the challenge from Our Creative Corner I just loved Jen's sketch this week at i{heart}2stamp I liked it so much, I made two cards with it. Last, is my card for the sketch from Paper Craft Planet (you'll have to see the sketch here , I had trouble loading it on my blog.)I also had trouble with lighting this afternoon, so I apologize for the washed out pictures. The cards look much better in person.

2sketches4you

I'm sliding in on the last day again with my 2sketches4you card. Here is this week's sketch Here's my take. I stamped the background with a swirls stamp and then embossed it in gold. I'm really loving gold for Christmas cards this year. The die cut frame is from the Basic Grey Wassail kit.

2sketches4you

Okay, I'm posting my take on the sketch at the last minute again. What's new? Here's this week's sketch: Here is my take I used papers and die cuts from Basic Grey's Wassail collection. I turned the sketch sideways for my card.

2sketches4you

Here is this week's card from 2sketches4you And here's my take on it I really needed to make a birthday card this week, but after I picked out these papers, I realized I had this woven label sticker from Making Memories in my scrapbooking stash that went perfectly with the papers. So now I have a "thanks" greeting card. I'm going to list it in my shop.

2sketches4you and a treat

Here is this week's sketch from 2sketches4you. Here's my take I have a lot going on with this card, but I am pleased with the results. The butterfly is stamped with Inkadinkado Garden Delight. I added some sparkle to it with stickles. The swirl and "HI" are chipboard. I painted the letters but left the swirl plain. The paper is by Little Yellow Bicycle. Oh.. the journaling card behind the letters was also stamped and cut out. The stitches are rub-ons. How's that for using a stash? And... I know it's last minute, but I wanted to share. I made 50 treat bags for the trick or treaters who will get the pants scared off them by my hubby. It's the least I could do. Maybe later I'll post some pics of our scary decorations. For now, here's the treat toppers. I'm doing some subtle advertising there too.

2sketches4u

This week's sketch from 2sketches4you was a lot of fun. I waited late to make my card, but I was waiting on new goodies! I used new Urban Prairie papers from BasicGrey and a cardstock sticker from daisyd's chloe marie that arrived at my house Thursday. Here's the sketch Here's my card I sponged walnut ink on the edges of the blue paper. I got it a little heavier in some places than I like. I also did the edge of the center piece. Overall, I'm happy with it. It was fun to do.

2Sketches4you

I found some time to play with the sketch from 2sketches4you again this week. The sketch My card My card is a hybrid. I used papers from a couple of digi kits by Sophia Sarducci. After I printed them and cut them for my card, I outlined the edges with a gold leafing pen. The flower is from a $1.00 bunch from the Dollar Tree and I sprayed it with gold glitter spray to tie it to the colors of the card better.
