Jute napkin rings and a beachy tablescape

When I put out my beach mantel decor , I usually follow suit with a beachy tablescape. At least I did last year and this year. I made some changes this year, as last year I only had a centerpiece. Let's take a look: I purchased a set of white dishes with a Greek key pattern (Ross $19.99). They will be useful for many other tablescapes. I also picked up four of the blue goblets from Dollar Tree. I really wanted some rattan chargers or natural braided placemats, but I decided I had purchased enough and made due with the bamboo placemats. These came from Dollar Tree too and last year I used them to make a runner under the centerpiece. I'm using some fish net from Michael's this year as a runner. A closer look at the place setting: The napkin rings started out like this: 50 cents for the four of them from a thrift store. A little hot glue and some jute twine and now we have these: My favorite part of this is still the centerpiece. I used some...

Bird nest napkin rings and Easter tablescape

I found these napkin rings on the net from S cissors and Spatulas and decided I had to try out my own. Instead of mini wreaths, I purchased some wood napkin rings and painted them. Here are the supplies I started with. I just glued the eggs into the nests and then attached the nests to the painted rings. I discovered that the wire that was holding the nest to the package was perfect for wiring it to the ring, so I can remove them from the rings if I ever want to change them up. Once my napkin rings were done, I went about setting my Easter table. I went to the Dollar Tree for some plain white plates and they did not have four alike! I came home with these green ones instead, which I really like now that the whole tablescape is complete. I wanted to do something similar to my gumdrop and candy tablescape from Christmas, so I placed some egg candles and painted wooden eggs on candlesticks the same way I used ornaments at Christmas. Yes, I painted the wo...

Christmas table decor and some easy DIYs

Day One I'm kicking off Creating Christmas with an overview of my Christmas table decor and some super quick diy ideas you can use in creating a Christmas table setting. These will also lend themselves to other holidays.

Easy napkin ring and table decor

I wanted to freshen up the decor after Christmas and really wanted some white in my home for the new year. I previously shared my white vignette with you. Here is how I very easily freshened up the dining room table. I added some white candles and flowers. I purchased a couple of 99 cent bunches of gerbera daisies from Michael's. One bunch went into the vase. I took another bunch and clipped off the flowers from the stems. I wrapped some floral wire around the small piece of stem left on the back of the flower and formed a loop. I slid some ribbon into the loop and tied them to my napkins. Very easy napkin rings! Hope you have a great week. I'll be linking up to the parties on the side and Get Your Craft On.

Thanksgiving table decor and napkin rings

I added a little fall/Thanksgiving decor to the dining room table. I picked up new place mats when I got the Halloween mats. I picked some that will match my decor year round, but can be accented for the season. I purchased some sunflowers on clearance at Michael's and put them in the crystal vase that is always on the table. I added my dollar hurricanes that I made for Halloween and filled them with some small gourds and pumpkins. Remember my fall wreath and my pondering what to do with the leftover gourds and such? I found a use for them. I had to pick up another package and add to them but that's okay. The other package was on clearance at Michael's as well when I got them.  I reused the thrift store napkins and made new rings. I made the rings from a paper towel roll, scrapbook paper and felt leaves cut with my Sizzix. The die is probably out of production but I'm sure they make another version.  Here is a tutorial for the napkin rings. I won't share m...
