Easy DIY bobby pins from vintage earrings

While I was trying my hand at making my own bobby pins , I decided to make some with some single vintage clip earrings and a button I had in my stash. I had originally planned to use the earrings in my DIY rings , but they just didn't fit on the ring bases well. They worked perfectly for the bobby pins.  I cut a tiny piece of felt and slipped it under the bobby pin and then glued my earrings and button straight to the pin and the felt with some E6000. I'm really pleased with these. All you need to do is remove the earring clip and button shanks with some pliers or jewelers wire cutters and glue them on some pins. Check out my rings from vintage earrings HERE. Thanks for stopping by. Anthro Paisley Rebirth knockoff

Here's my version of the Anthro Paisley Rebirth necklace based on the tutorial from Bev at Flamingo Toes.  I loosely followed the tutorial. I didn't wrap my chain the same nor did I wrap it as tightly because I was afraid I would run out of chain. I didn't have quite as much as I needed. Here's mine compared to Bev's.

Friday feature- Lollys Cubby Hole

Happy Friday! Today I'd like to introduce you to Lolly's Cubby Hole , a cute shop filled with vintage, wedding and shower favors, and home decor. Here are a couple of my favorite items: Vintage tea cup and saucer Wedding heart sachets And here's a little info about "Lolly": LollysCubbyHole opened after I became "Lolly", to my first grandchild. Having to share the traditional name of “Grandma” with two others, I looked for a name that went nicely with “Poppi”, our chosen name in our family for Grandpa! Lolly and Poppi we became! Life has a way of giving you changes, and when some came about in our lives, I wanted something to call my own and keep me busy. I began to look around for things worthy of becoming a treasure for our family's future and when that was completed, discovered, oh, so many things, I could not keep but should share with others. So with that, the CubbyHole came to life. I would say that looking through my...

DIY fashion rings

Several days ago I found this post featuring some diy rings. I remembered that I had vintage earrings and supplies to do this and just hadn't gotten around to it. So last week I started working on some of my own.

Ruffle necklace- Tried it out Thursday

This week (or rather last night) I made myself a ruffle necklace. Maybe I still have Valentine's Day on the brain, but I chose a red and white vintage flocked swiss dot scrap from my Grandmother's stash for my necklace. I think it would actually look really cute with a navy blue shirt for a patriotic look. I used a scrap that was about thirty inches long by three inches wide and followed the tutorial by Poppy Chic Designs.  I used about 21 inches of chain from my jewelry making stash and added a lobster clasp to it. I took a short scrap of red with white swiss dot and made another tiny ruffle and folded it into a flower. I sewed a button in the center and then sewed the flower to the necklace. I think it's pretty cute! If you have been wanting to try this project, go ahead! It's quick and easy, about thirty minutes give or take. Shabby Apple necklace giveaway-CLOSED

It's time to get ready for the holidays. For some of us, that means parties, women's dresses, little girls dresses, and accessories, including vintage jewlery. I've got an exciting giveaway for you to help get ready from Shabby Apple - a Key to Wonderland necklace! Isn't it beautiful? It'd make a great gift for someone or for yourself.

Butterflies and daisies

Butterflies and daisies are two of my favorite things. My grandmother used to grow gerbera daisies. After she passed away, my mom transplanted them at her house. I love all of their vivid bright summer colors. Maybe I should grow some of my own.... Okay, that's another story for another day. Let's just say I didn't inherit that green thumb. Since I don't have any of my own growing, I made myself an arrangement with some artificial ones from Michaels. (Purchased during a 60% off sale.) My inspiration came from a project at Joann's but my arrangement is so far from the original, it's not worth showing for comparison. I've totally made this my own project. I started with this container that's been in my stash for a few years (an after Christmas clearance purchase). I pulled out some old papers from my scrapbook stash. I mean old, like some of the first ones purchased in 2003. (Please tell me I'm not the only one with stuff that old.) I cut the p...

Rolled rosette brooch

I'm still heavily involved in the clean up and organization of my craft room so I haven't been able to make anything new lately. I'm sharing a quick little brooch I made for my mother as a Christmas gift. I just use the twist and roll method for my rosettes. This one is rather large so it took a fairly long strip of material. I added a vintage clip on earring as the center. I just removed the clip with pliers/ wire cutters before gluing it on. Thanks for looking! I'll be linking up to the parties on the side and at

Fabulous fall felt brooch

Sometimes the inspiration for projects comes from making a project or from my stash of supplies. When I made the flowers for my fall wreath, I thought these would look great made into a brooch. Also in the process of getting out some of the materials for my wreath, I came across some felt iron on appliques that were embellished with beads and stitches. Another aha! moment. I also have embroidery thread and seed beads in my stash, so I embellished my flowers on my brooch. I used other gold beads for the center of one flower and a vintage clip earring for the center of the other. I think this will look great on a cardigan. By the way- that cardigan came from a thrift shop for 25 cents!! I was excited about that find. Here's a quick little how to on the brooch: Cut flowers from coordinating felt with a die. Layer and glue them together. Embellish each flower. I sewed the beads on the petals and center of one. I glued the earring to the center of the other. (Remove earring b...

2 Sketches 4 you

I actually got to participate in this challenge again this week. Here's the greeting card I made for Laura's sketch 10. The lighting was horrible this afternoon so the color looks off. That is the beautiful Making Memories vintage collection paper. I also got a new toy this week- the Fiskars treading water punch , so I did the edges of my strip with that. I tore the edges of the striped piece and applied walnut ink to both to make it a little shabby. It was a quick and fun card to do.
