WHO’S BEEN HERE?
This week Marta Chudolinska and Michelle MacKinnon were staying at the residency. It was a great week with these two!
Marta was working on her first reductive linocut. Having mostly done one colour relief prints for publications and small editions she was pretty excited to take on the challenge of this four colour print. I really love her style of work and I was really impressed with the number of prints she got completed in just one week.
Michelle wanted to get one full drawing done during her stay and thought she might be able to start a second. To her surprise she completed two large-scale portraits while she was here. It was so exciting having these pieces in the studio and watching the way she worked on them.
WHAT HAVE WE BEEN UP TO?
It was our last week at Loyalist this week (we got some really sweet Thank-you cards and nice pieces of art). Now we just have our marking and then it is summer break. I have so many ideas for next year and I am pretty excited to start working out some plans over the next few months.
We headed off to Toronto early in the week to pick up some new items for the studio which included an NuArch exposure system for plate making.
Things are looking really good for the Letterpress campaign so we are getting pretty excited about that. We will be trying to make a new layout for the studio so it will have someplace to go.
I sent off my door for the Doors Open event happening this Saturday April 27th.
At the end of the week we participated in the Firelight Lantern Festival which was wonderful. We had a great turn out, people brought some amazing lanterns, and the performances were awesome. I loved the new shadow puppet play by Small Pond Arts!
I will start adding Weekly Links again next week … we have just been too busy to be online.
