Ensure you receive critical notifications and updates for your Google Workspace account

Google periodically sends critical alerts and notifications to the primary administrator account associated with your Google Workspace or Cloud Identity account. Only one super admin account receives these updates.  Initially, the person who signs up for your Google Workspace or Cloud Identity service gets these messages.

You can assign another super admin as the primary admin for your account. You can also set up a filter to forward messages to multiple admins.

Important: Be sure that the primary admin account receiving these critical notifications is monitored regularly. If necessary, change which account receives these messages, or forward these messages to multiple admins.

Messages sent to the primary admin

Important messages sent to the primary admin include:

  • Feature availability
  • Functionality changes
  • Billing notifications
  • Changes to your Google Workspace or Cloud Identity services
  • Communications from Support
  • (Optional) Product communications: Receive feature updates, offers, and Google Workspace tips. Learn more

Send important messages to another admin account

  1. Sign in to your Google Admin console.

Sign in using your administrator account (does not end in @gmail.com).

  2. In the Admin console, go to Menu and then Accountand thenAccount settingsand thenProfile.
  3. Click Contact info.
  4. Under Primary admin, enter the username of the super admin who should get important messages about your account. Note: Use the super admin's username, not an alias.
  5. Under Secondary email, enter another email address where you want to get these messages. This address must be outside the domain that you use for your Google service—for example, a personal Gmail address.

The admin's contact information appears in your company profile, and the admin starts receiving important messages.

  6. Click Save.

Forward important messages to multiple admins

To make sure important messages are received promptly from someone in your organization, you can forward notifications to each admin who needs to be made aware of changes. Do this by creating a group that contains each admin's account. Then create an email filter that forwards messages sent from @google.com (or each notification's "from" address) to the group's address.

For steps, go to Forward messages that match your filters.
