- This feature is available as part of Gemini for Google Workspace Alpha.
- Your administrator controls access to Gemini for Google Workspace Alpha. If you can’t find these features, your administrator may not have Alpha features enabled for your organization.
- This feature is also available as part of our early access testing program, Google Workspace Labs.
You can upload and insert your own image or video clip into a video from:
- Google Drive
- Google Photos
- The web
- A file on your computer

Add images, GIFs, or videos from Drive or Photos
Use the My media side panel to add images, GIFs, or videos from Drive or Photos.
Important:
- You can upload these file types:
- MP4
- Quicktime
- OGG
- WebM
- Individual clips have limits of 35 minutes and 4 GB. Learn how to trim a video clip in Vids.
- On your computer, open a video in Google Vids.
- In the timeline, select the scene where you want to upload an image, GIF, or video.
- In the sidebar, click My media
or in the menu, click Insert
My media
- Choose where to get your file from in the My media side panel:
- In Drive: Use a file saved to your Google Drive.
- In Photos: Use an image from your Google Photos library.
- Tip: You can search
your files, or filter by folder or media type.
- Click the file to add to the scene canvas.
Tip: When you add files from Google Drive or Photos, ensure you’re logged into the account that has the files you want to add. For example, if you have a work account and a personal account, and are creating a video with your work account, be sure the photos you want to add are available on your work account.
Upload images, GIFs, or videos from your desktop or the web
- On your computer, open a video in Google Vids.
- In the timeline, select the scene where you want to upload an image, GIF, or video:
- Upload an image or video from your computer:
- In the Vids menu bar, click Insert
- Select the image or video you want to add.
- In the Vids menu bar, click Insert
- Drag an image from your computer or the web:
- On your computer, click an image or a website.
- Hold and drag the image into your document.
- Copy and paste an image from your computer or the web:
- On your computer, right click an image or website.
- Click Copy.
- Go to your document, presentation, or spreadsheet.
- Click Paste.
- Upload an image or video from your computer:
Tip: It may take a moment for your image to open.
