Feature availability
- This feature is available through our early access testing program, Google Workspace Labs, which is an invite only program for users to try new AI features.
- To check if you have access to Workspace Labs features, open Google Vids. A window to help you start creating in Vids will appear if you have access. Learn where you can use Workspace Labs features.
- For users with access to Workspace Labs, note that new features for Vids are rolling out gradually, and may not be available to you yet.
Add audio tracks, sound effects, or music to your video, including:
- Your own sounds or music from Drive or from your computer
- Pre-recorded audio/voice-over
- Voice-over/audio recording in Vids
- Stock sounds or music from the Vids stock media library

Add audio from Drive
You can upload and insert your own audio from Google Drive.
- On your computer, open a video in Google Vids.
- Click to select a scene in the timeline.
- In the sidebar, click My media , or at the top, click Insert My media .
- Find the file you want to add in the “My media” panel.
- Tip: Search your files or filter by folder or media type.
- To add to your video, click the file.
Learn about audio types that can be uploaded in Google Vids
The following audio file types can be uploaded to a video in Google Vids:
- flac
- m4a
- Mp3
- mp4
- mpeg
- Mpeg3
- ogg
- wav
- x-flac
- X-m4a
- x-wav
Upload audio from your computer
You can upload and insert your own audio from a file on your computer.
- At the top, click Insert Upload.
- Select the audio file you want to add.
- Tip: You can also drag and drop an audio file from your computer into a scene in your video.
Important: To turn off any of the features on Google Workspace Labs you must exit Workspace Labs. If you exit, you will permanently lose access to all Workspace Labs features, and you won’t be able to rejoin Workspace Labs. Learn more about how to exit Workspace Labs.
