Troubleshoot audio issues in Google Meet

If you have an issue with your audio in a meeting, here’s how you can fix it.

Run these checks before you start

Important: If you have microphone and speaker issues but there’s some audio, you can troubleshoot video and audio quality in a meeting.

  • Verify that you've selected the correct microphone or speaker. Learn how to adjust your audio peripherals.
    • When you use a monitor, make sure that it's not your selected audio.
  • Check your computer’s Bluetooth™ settings are correctly connected and devices are turned on.
  • Make sure you’re unmuted.
  • At the top right corner of video tiles, make sure that the blue indicator goes on when someone speaks. If it doesn’t go on for:
    • Other participants: It’s likely their microphone issue. Otherwise, there could be an issue with your speaker.
    • Your tile: It’s likely your microphone issue. Otherwise, it could be an issue with the speaker of another participant.

Fix audio issues in Android devices

Allow Meet access to your microphone and camera

  1. On your phone or tablet, open Settings and then Apps and then All Apps.
  2. Tap Meet and then Permissions.
  3. Tap Camera and then Allow only while using the app.
  4. Go back to the Permissions page.
  5. Tap Microphone and then Allow only while using the app.

Make sure to check if:

  • You have the most recent version of Google Meet.
  • Your device’s volume is up.
  • You’re connected to the correct external microphone and speaker.
  • You tried to disconnect and reconnect your Bluetooth devices.
