Overview
From the Google Trends “Trending now” page, you can:
- Explore trending searches for 100+ countries and regions (where applicable) around the world.
- Focus on trends that are more recent (4 hours ago), as well as looking at trends that started in the past day or 2 days. Lastly, see trends that started in the past 7 days.
- See fresh trends data, being refreshed on average every ten minutes.
Navigating the “Trending now” page
Learn more about how to navigate the “Trending now” page:
- Trends: Top trending search queries in the selected country or region, timeframe, with optional for trend status.
- Each query may represent a group of trending queries that are variants of the same search or considered to be related.
- Updated: This is the timestamp in your local time for when the data was last refreshed. Refresh your browser to get fresh updates.
- Click on the column to sort by Alphabetic Order.
- Search volume:
- Bucketed traffic for the trend within the selected timeframe, with % growth vs. predicted baseline.
- Click on the column to sort by volume (Descending).
- Started: This is when the query started tending. The column also indicates whether the trend is still active or has ended.
- To sort descending, click the column.
- Note: Click on the time / date for each trending search to switch between elapsed time and start time.
- Active: These search queries are still being searched more than usual.
- Ended: These queries were searched more than usual and are now back to their typical search volume.
- Note: a trend that previously ended may re-emerge and become active once again.
- Trend Chart: Shows how the query has been trending in volume over the selected time frame (default is last 24 hours).
- Chart shows for the last 4 hours, 24 hours, 48 hours, or 7 days.
- Note: Chart is exact-match, while the Explore page chart is broad-match.
- Trend Breakdown: Click a trend. In the panel on the right you can find which searches compose the trend.
Filtering and exporting data
Apply filters to focus on specific search trends and export the filtered data:
- Trend location: Defaults to “user location”. Choose “recently searched” or from a list of 100+ countries and regions in selected countries.
- Started trending: Defaults to “Past 24 hours.” Also available for Past 4 hours, Past 48 hours and Past 7 days.
- Trend status: Defaults to “All trends.” To filter out trends that are no longer active, turn on “Show active trends only.”
- Sort by: Defaults to “By relevance (significant and recent trends).” You can also search “By Title,” “By recency,” and “By search volume.”
- Export: To select from data export methods below, click Export.
- Copy to clipboard
- Download CSV
- RSS feed
Tip: You can also select individual rows on the “Trending now” page. To export data on the selected rows, click Export.
Deep diving into search queries
To deep dive into individual search queries:
- On the “Trending now” page, click the row of the search query you’re interested in.
- Navigate to the right-hand panel for these features:
- Trend chart: Shows search interest in the past 24 hours.
- Note: Chart is exact-match while the Explore page chart is broad-match.
- Trend breakdown: To view trends data breakdown in Google Trends, click Explore. To search the query on Google, click Search it or Explore.
- In the news: See the articles related to the trend.
- Trend chart: Shows search interest in the past 24 hours.
To compare 2 or more queries (up to five), select an option:
- Click the checkbox of queries to be compared on the “Trending now” page, then click Compare.
- Select multiple checkboxes and then explore to CSV or Copy to Clipboard.
