360 degree videos help you provide an immersive viewing experience.
Note: If you don't use 360 degree live streams, your stream needs different settings. YouTube only supports equirectangular projection for 360 videos at this time.
Set up your encoder for live stream in 360 degree
When you live stream 360 degree videos, you'll need to change your encoding specifications:
- Go to YouTube Studio.
- Click Create

- Enter the live stream details.
- On the left menu, click Stream.
- Under “Additional settings,” toggle on or off 360° video.
- Set up your encoder:
- Choose the highest supported resolution and bitrate you are able to use.
- A resolution of 2160p or 1440p is preferred for live 360.
- Choose 16:9 aspect ratio for the best video quality. Learn more about aspect ratios.
- You can go live once you’re ready.
Notes:
- We recommend that you test your 360 degree stream before starting a public live stream, so you can try different set ups. Tests should include audio and movement similar to what will be in your public live stream. During the event, monitor sound and video quality, and review error messages.
- If your camera offers direct integration with YouTube live, follow the directions from your camera manufacturer.
Supported platforms
YouTube supports live streaming ingestion and playback of 360 degree videos on computers in Chrome, Firefox, MS Edge, and Opera browsers. 360 degree playback is also supported in the YouTube app.
