Wikipedia:

"an American aerospace engineer noted for his originality in designing light, strong, unusual-looking, energy-efficient aircraft. He designed the record-breaking Voyager, which was the first plane to fly around the world without stopping or refueling, and thesub-orbital spaceplane SpaceShipOne, which won the Ansari X-Prize in 2004 for becoming the first privately funded spacecraft to enter the realm of space twice within a two-week period."

At "Scaled Composites" practiced job rotation, where each person would work in a different position for a period of time.

He himself starts design of an aircraft as an artist, with a sketchpad and colors. He is attracted to the beauty of flight.

Burt Rutan uses "composite materials" for his aircraft.

composite material (also called a composition material or shortened to composite which is the common name) is a material made from two or more constituent materials with significantly different physical or chemical properties that, when combined, produce a material with characteristics different from the individual components.

An early example of a composite is "concrete", which is a mixture of cement and rock.

"Ferro-cement" is a mix of ferrous mesh with cement, e.g. to produce a ferro-cement boat.

Many modern boat are produced using plywood covered with plastic.

A modern human being has to be "composite", i.e. combine qualities of different origin.
